Purpose
This project will build capacity and knowledge among technology companies and systems-level actors to ensure technological innovation serves and protects users and helps mitigate the spread of mis- and disinformation. Policy-makers and government officials, international justice mechanisms, public defenders and judges will be engaged to develop and implement democratic, gender-sensitive and inclusive policy and programming. Focus will also be on enabling vulnerable communities to safely, ethically and effectively utilize video technology to create truthful narratives, participate in society and to inform public dialogue and decision-making on issues that affect them in their communities. This work will specifically aim to protect and amplify the voices of women and girls, who regularly and disproportionately suffer violations of their human rights, are targeted for participating in civic or political spaces, and for whom video and technology offer vast potential to transform their lives.
