Purpose
This contribution provides the Mushkegowuk Council with the means to implement a project entitled “Omushkego Biodiversity and Carbon Knowledge” within their Traditional Territories and participate meaningfully in the overall Hudson Bay–James Bay Lowlands Biodiversity Conservation and Carbon Sequestration Initiative. In particular, it provides the Mushkegowuk Council support for scientific research, science-based skill development, community participation, and knowledge gathering and sharing. The work will also provide relevant information for the on-going feasibility assessment for a potential National Marine Conservation Area in Western James and Southwestern Hudson Bay.
