Purpose
The Northwest Territories (NWT) will undertake several activities over five fiscal years to advance victim services and access to justice for victims and their families. Activities will include continuing the management of the Victims of Crime Emergency Fund; supporting a half-time Victim Services Manager and a full time Victim Services Coordinator dedicated to the territorial implementation of federal victim initiatives and the advancement of victim initiatives in the territory; enhancing the existing Outreach Victim Services Programs; building capacity and leadership of the NWT Victim Services staff and frontline Victim Services Workers through various training initiatives; updating all victim services public education documents to reflect new best practices and legislative changes; and undertaking various activities to support the implementation of the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights.
