Purpose
The objective of this project is: 1) to estimate the probability of soil conditions that promote nitrogen losses via leaching, volatilization, and N2O emissions across different nitrogen application timings, 2) to compare the financial implications of nitrogen applications methods on corn crops by comparing estimated yields and determining the economically optimum nitrogen rate per method, and 3) to identify how different late stage nitrogen management strategies (placement, source, rate) influence economic, agronomic, and environmental outcomes.
