Purpose

The “Holding Up Our Women and Girls - Prevention and Safety Initiative” will work towards increasing safety and wellness for women and girls in Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations by means of addressing inter-generational trauma, violence and abuse experienced in the community at large. The project directs focus on prevention, education and specialized supports, grounded in traditional and cultural strengths, teachings, values and practices. The project aims to increase awareness and understanding in trauma-informed approaches to apply within community practices and ultimately strengthen community wellbeing, safety and resilience.
