Purpose
The Government of Canada announced $6 billion over 10 years in Budget 2024 for the new Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund to accelerate the construction and upgrading of housing-enabling drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and solid waste infrastructure, directly supporting the creation of new homes and increasing densification. This agreement is for phase one of the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant project to enable more homes and improve densification.
