Purpose

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to create and implement a national Coordinating Centre for the Canadian Research Initiative in Substance Misuse (CRISM) Network to: • Augment capacity for and enhance coordination of the CRISM Network’s national substance use research, training and capacity building, and knowledge mobilization activities, while allowing for flexibility to meet shifting demands and needs; • Implement a Network governance structure and create transparency and accountability in decision making and governance; • Provide guidance and coordination efforts for diverse training and capacity building needs, including mentoring, within the Network that leverage the national expertise and infrastructure of CRISM; • Enhance the capacity for knowledge mobilization of national and jurisdictional CRISM endeavors; • Support involvement and engagement of relevant partners including service providers, decision makers and PWLLE of substance use and embed and apply Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) (WSC: #guidelines) best practices; • Collaborate with the CRISM Indigenous Engagement Platform to support the engagement of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, including Urban Indigenous communities, in substance use research, knowledge mobilization and capacity development; and • Strengthen research excellence and ensure maximum research impact through consideration of diverse biological and/or socio-cultural identity factors in the activities of the Coordinating Centre, including diverse research, training, and knowledge mobilization methods such as those based in Indigenous ways of knowing.
