Purpose

The Department of Justice of Quebec will improve the services offered to child victims of crime through supporting Child Advocacy Centres in Quebec; exploring outcomes and impacts of an integrated cross-sectoral service program for abused children and their families and the development of leading practices; seeking to understand and explain the development and implementation of the community impact statement in Canada and across provinces and territories; creating support groups for people who are or have been confronted with acts of hate; and researching online romance fraud. The project will also support ILA/ILR for victims of sexual assault and intimate partner violence as well as additional supports for victims of intimate partner violence involved in the family justice system. Other activities will include ensuring respect for the rights of victims of the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights by exercising victims' rights when the accused is found unfit to stand trial or not criminally responsible on account of a mental disorder; and improving of the CAVACs' judicial information programs.
