Purpose
The British Columbia Family Information Liaison Unit will continue to provide coordination of information for families of missing and murdered Indigenous people. The Family Information Liaison Unit will approach this work in a trauma-informed and culturally safe manner, ensuring FILU staff have the necessary cultural competencies, experience, skills and knowledge. The Family Information Liaison Unit will continue to develop and grow to support families of missing and murdered Indigenous people . It will enhance engagement, build trauma-informed service delivery, and establish collaborative mechanisms for information-sharing. The focus will be on strengthening relationships with new and existing stakeholders, building on the foundation for cross-system coordination, and ensuring culturally sensitive support for families of missing and murdered Indigenous people.
