Purpose
This initiative provided pharmaceutical-grade prescribed alternatives (safer supply) medications (opioid/OAT/stimulant) to address the overdose risk posed by the toxic illegal drug market. It included outreach, medication delivery and fixed site services, including services and a safe and secure outdoor space for People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) by inhalation, with an emphasis on current gaps in the service continuum. The project also served as a point of entry to wraparound health and social services including primary and addiction care.
