Yukon Status of Women Council

Purpose

This 36 month project will improve women’s experience of the legal system in the Yukon. Through collaboration with key stakeholders, the project will decrease the number of misclassified sexualized assault cases and the number of sexualized assault charges not taken to court. Additionally, it will investigate the reasons for low conviction rates and the increasing rate of successful appeals in the Yukon. Stakeholders will implement policy and program changes within their own organizations, identify areas to influence territory wide changes and share findings with other Northern Territories.
