Purpose

The Union Training and Innovation Program supports investments in training equipment and materials for unions as well as in innovative approaches to improve apprenticeship outcomes, including improving the participation and success of key groups such as women and Indigenous people. The streams have the following specific objectives: Stream 1 (equipment) will increase investment in training equipment and materials for higher quality training, leading to a more skilled and productive trade workforce.Stream 2 (innovation in apprenticeship) will support innovation and enhanced partnerships to address long-standing and complex challenges that limit apprenticeship outcomes.Stream 3 (Women in Construction Fund [WCF] will support projects that expand or replicate successful models to encourage more women to participate and succeed in apprenticeship and the skilled trades.Stream 4 (Trades Exploration and Experience Program) will support projects that encourage Canadians to explore, prepare for, participate and succeed in apprenticeship and skilled trades careers. This stream is limited to participants who are not registered apprentices.
