Purpose
This project supports the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) capacity build uniformed men and women medical and paramedical personnel for peace operations. UNITAR delivers basic field trauma training, including mental health components, and advanced medical training or a training of trainers. The United Nations (UN) selects troop- and police-contributing countries based on their ranking, participation in previous trainings, and come from Africa and Asia. Project activities include: (1) conducting needs assessments; (2) undertaking a preparatory workshop for trainers; (3) delivering up to 4 3-week basic field medical training, including mental health components; (4) delivering up to 4 2-week advanced medical or mental health training; and (5) delivering up to 4 2-week trainings of trainers course on basic field medical training.
