Purpose
This project aims to amplify community-based gender-sensitive reconciliation work to promote peaceful co-existence and a sense of belonging in Lebanon. This is the phase II component of the “Dealing with the Past: Memory of the Future” project. Project activities include: (1) developing and disseminating educational materials and supporting awareness-raising activities for national and local actors; (2) creating interactive awareness tools about the Lebanese civil war for country-wise dissemination in support of reconciliation; (3) facilitating community and intergenerational dialogue between women and youth; and (4) organizing advocacy meetings and campaigns with decision-makers to acknowledge and respond to gender-based crimes during the Lebanese civil war. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and United Nations Women (UN Women) jointly implement this project.
