Purpose
This project aims to protect civilians and support early recovery in northern and central Syria by enabling safe access to land, infrastructure, and essential services through the reduction of risks posed by landmines and other explosive ordnance. Project activities include: (1) conducting technical surveys, manual clearance, and explosive ordnance disposal to identify, remove, and destroy explosive hazards in prioritized areas; (2) deploying mechanical assets to support safe and efficient land release for agricultural, community, and infrastructure use; (3) delivering explosive ordnance risk education sessions to help women, men, girls, and boys recognize risks and adopt safer practices; (4) training community members as focal points to report contamination and share safety information within their communities; and (5) strengthening the technical and coordination capacity of national authorities and partner organizations to manage mine action activities in line with international standards.
