Purpose
This project will launch a multi-pronged project in sub-Saharan Africa to monitor, report and highlight press freedom violations, to build the capacity of media organizations to counter online harassment of journalists with a particular focus on female journalists, as well as to train journalists in investigating sources and tools of disinformation. A robust monitoring and reporting mechanism will enable journalists, policymakers, the diplomatic community, civil society organizations and citizens to take action based on the data collected. Timely reporting and analysis will provide critical insights to support the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information of African Commission on Human and People’s Rights as well as numerous other key advocacy players
