Purpose

Dalhousie University proposes an initiative to strengthen research partnerships with India and the Philippines through 33 awards: 12 graduate scholarships (12–24 weeks) and 21 faculty/postdoctoral fellowships (4–24 weeks). The program focuses on natural resource management, climate change, and sustainable development, aligning with Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy and Dalhousie’s strategic research clusters. Placements will occur at six partner institutions, including IIT Ropar, IIT Tirupati, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, and leading universities in the Philippines. Award values are based on actual travel and living costs, with host institutions providing subsidized on-campus housing to ensure value for money. Building on Dalhousie’s India and Philippines strategies and decades of engagement, the initiative aims to expand joint research, academic programs, and access to regional funding, while fostering long-term institutional and people-to-people ties.??
