Purpose
The project will create a new natural environment on a 145-hectare site through the massive planting of 230,000 trees and 57,000 shrubs that will consolidate the last remaining green spaces in the East and strengthen the existing natural infrastructure. This consolidation will create a cool zone and counteract extreme heat events that affect the health, resilience and quality of life of the community. The consolidation of green areas to create a park will result in a new natural infrastructure designed and built to mitigate the current and future impacts of climate change, while meeting the need of the population of the east of Montreal to access to large protected natural area.
