Purpose
The objective of this collaboration is the robust calibration of the PTIS (Photothermal Interferometry and Scattering) instrument, such that this instrument can act as a reference standard in calibrating other instruments. This project aims to develop synthetic nanoparticles for light absorption calibration using an aerosol of metal particles. The team will also develop calibration standards, in the form of wellcharacterized particles of a known composition, that can act to anchor measurements in the real-world and provide the uncertainties necessary for constraining climate effects of atmospheric aerosols.
