Purpose

This project aims to manufacture and acquire in 2023-2024 a mobile nitrogen foam generator for depopulating poultry in chicken coops in crisis situations such as avian influenza. EQCMA wishes to validate the proper functioning of this new technology developed by a new US-based company in collaboration with a Quebec company specializing in industrial gases. This project proposes to test this technology in the context of 5 shared field tests over 3 different periods in order to validate its effectiveness in different types of poultry farming buildings. This project also aims to evaluate animal welfare parameters and thus confirm that the technology is acceptable at this level in accordance with the requirements of federal and provincial authorities (Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food).
