Purpose

The King George Boulevard Walking and Safety Improvements for Surrey, British Columbia project is intended to address the safety concerns along the corridor by installing pedestrian safety measures. The project will include wider sidewalks, curb extensions, additional crosswalks and accessible curb ramps. Modifications to traffic signals will be completed where possible to provide protected left-turns (to separate left turning vehicles from vulnerable road users) and leading pedestrian intervals (which give vulnerable road users a head start into the crosswalk before the vehicle green is shown to improve visibility to these road users).
