Purpose
The Region of Waterloo will employ a mobile crisis team to effectively respond to local Black and Indigenous youth that are in crisis, by providing non-punitive, culturally appropriate emotional and practical support and connecting them with wrap-around multi-agency services. The overall objective is to redirect mental health and addiction calls to trusted community health and social service providers, respond to youth crises to prevent future gun and gang association, and provide opportunities for youth to exit gang involvement.
