Purpose

This Project aims to increase the capability of partner countries in Latin America and the Caribbean to counter maritime crime, in a coordinated manner. This Project will be implemented in Barbados, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago. In practice, this Project will strengthen the strategic, operational and tactical capacity of national maritime law enforcement agencies and the prosecution of beneficiary countries; provide them with support and technical assistance to foster dialogue and enhance regional coordination of actions at sea at the policy and operational levels; and procure the needed equipment to conduct successful operations to prevent, detect and counter smuggling of migrants at sea.
