Caricom Impacs

Purpose

This project aims to enhance regional maritime security across the Caribbean through a multi-component strategy. Spanning from January 2026 to March 2028, the initiative addresses growing threats such as drug trafficking, human smuggling, IUU fishing, and environmental crimes. It focuses on expanding maritime domain awareness, improving intelligence capabilities, and boosting operational readiness through international cooperation. Key activities include deploying Canada’s Dark Vessel Detection System, delivering specialized training, developing operational guidance tools, and fostering inter-regional collaboration. The project supports 15 CARICOM Member States and 7 Associate Members, promoting sustainable policy development, gender-responsive approaches, and human rights protections, while reinforcing regional resilience and security governance.
