Purpose
This 29 month-project will address systemic barriers to the establishment and growth of women-owned enterprises, with a particular focus on Black communities and official language minority communities, in order to create a more inclusive and equitable social entrepreneurial landscape in the Canadian digital economy. To do so, the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) will conduct research to uncover and showcase indicators and catalysts for success at all stages of social entrepreneurship in the digital economy. It will recruit at least 500 women-owned enterprises in Ontario, Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Alberta to participate in its entrepreneurship and mentorship programs, and interactive hub to exchange knowledge, best practices, and mentorship opportunities. ICTC will also be engaging with core industry partners to participate in an advisory committee, contribute their expertise to knowledge mobilization sessions for the entrepreneurs, and share project information among their networks. At the end of the project, the organization will share results of its project evaluation.
