Purpose
This project aims to enhance alkaline water electrolyser (AWE) efficiency for green hydrogen production by addressing gas bubble transport challenges. Utilizing advanced Ni-based metal 3D printing, it is planned to develop novel porous transport layers (PTLs) with controlled porosity and pore size gradients to facilitate efficient gas bubble removal and improve current density. Additionally, a revolutionary design that introduces water through a porous separator to reduce bubble formation on electrodes, potentially leading to a bubble-free operation and higher energy efficiency is being proposed.
