Purpose

This project contributes to strengthening constitutional, electoral and parliamentary processes and institutions to promote inclusion, transparency, accountability and peace in Mali. This project also aims to promote inclusive democratic governance that incorporates the aspirations of marginalized groups, especially youth and women, while establishing a stable and peaceful climate to lay the foundation for sustainable peace and development. Project activities include: (1) supporting the holding of a constitutional referendum and general elections to end the transition; (2) assisting the transition authorities to conduct inclusive reforms and develop a framework to build confidence for the organization of democratic and peaceful elections; (3) supporting women's organizations to promote the political participation of women, youth, and people living with disabilities in institutional reforms and electoral processes; (4) helping the media to promote the transparency of electoral processes and reforms; (5) supporting the framework of the electoral support mandate of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali; (6) supporting the mitigation of misinformation, preventing conflicts, and strengthening dialogue between national actors; and (7) providing technical support for the management of electoral disputes.
