Purpose
This project will enhance the existing record suspension (pardon) program by improving outreach and education efforts to dispel the myths, redirect women with minimal financial means away from private services, ensuring a core group of volunteers are trained to offer the one-on-one support, adding a bi-monthly online peer support groups, and improving application access with financial subsidies for travel and obtaining documents. This project serves a variety of ethnic groups, including Indigenous and Inuit communities, through building capacity in Canada’s North and focuses primarily on women. The proposed service considers the challenges and trauma of applying for a record suspension and will implement measures to reduce the negative impact of the process while encourage clients to adhere to the timeline.
