Purpose

The Project is a collaboration between academic researchers at University of Waterloo and the autonomous vessel research being undertaken at NRC- Ocean, coastal and River Engineering (OCRE). The University of Waterloo will explore motion planning techniques for robotic platforms to be applied to marine vessels. The NRC will develop a testbed for autonomous surface ships which would be used to validate and apply cutting-edge motion planning techniques to improve performance of autonomous surface ships in ice.
