Purpose
Ice-class coatings are specialized protective coatings designed to withstand the harsh conditions encountered by ships operating in polar regions and ice-infested waters. These coatings must provide excellent resistance to both corrosion and ice-induced abrasion. Some key requirements for coatings considered as ice-class coatings are as following: Ice Abrasion Resistance Corrosion Protection Low Friction Impact resistance Flexibility UV resistance High adhesion resistance Low Environmental Impact Easy Application and Maintenance Compliance with Regulations Hydrophobic Properties Non-toxic The purpose of this project is to develop a coating with high abrasion and biofouling resistance using eco-friendly components.
