Purpose

This project will lead to an improved and more cost-effective AAV-LPL gene therapy for the treatment of Lipoprotein Lipase (LPL) Deficiency. The previous limitations of the high costs of production of advanced biologics, such as Glybera, will be addressed through new cost-effective manufacturing in Canada. This project will develop a further optimized AAV-based gene therapy for the treatment of LPL Deficiency as a pilot demonstration of a cost-effective production strategy for new advanced gene therapeutics in Canada.
