Purpose
This project’s objectives are to apply data-driven discovery to support efforts that will enhance the production of Canadian protein crops. The Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) will apply Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) methods to genomics datasets generated at the National Research Council (NRC). Specifically, this project’s primary objective is to develop models that predict gene expression directly from DNA sequences. This collaboration at the intersection of AI and the biology of plant proteins will extract meaningful biological patterns and produce valuable information for future research and application in diverse agricultural fields. The unique interdisciplinary nature of this project will lay the foundation for training a High-Quality Professional while integrating burgeoning fields of applied and basic science.
