Purpose
The project aims to validate a personalized prediction model and digital decision-making guide (MATMatch) that can empower older adults and care-partners in the selection of medication adherence technology based on older adults’ physical, cognitive, perception, motivational and environmental barriers to medication taking. This project builds on research measuring the usability and user experience of 13 different medication adherence technologies with older adults with diverse capabilities – data used to build the personalized prediction model, iterative development of digital decision-making guide and development of a taxonomy for medication adherence technologies. To meet the overall goal, this project will undertake six separate studies. In addition to external validation and beta-testing, this project aims to examine factors that will inform the design of a future hybrid study testing the effectiveness and implementation of the MATMatch. Studies in this project will utilize both quantitative and qualitative research methods and engage with older adults, care-partners, and technology developers.
