Purpose
Ensuring flock uniformity is crucial in raising poultry, as it maximizes reproductive efficiency and reduces processing inefficiencies in meat-type birds. A precision feeding system allows for the testing of different feed formulations and feeding algorithms, leading to higher productivity and healthier, and more efficient poultry meat production, while minimizing environmental impacts. This project aims to complete and test a new card-based modular poultry feeding station at the University of Alberta poultry facility. Upon project completion, an optimized, tested, and user-friendly feeding system will be ready for testing in a commercial poultry facility and ready for regulatory approval for sale to research institutions.
