Purpose
In Phase II of this project, the Multicultural History Society of Ontario (MHSO) will perform the intellectual and physical rearrangement and re-description of its archival holdings in accordance with current archival standards, with a focus on digital and textual records. MHSO will also finalize descriptions for its ethnic newspaper and historical photograph collections; review, appraise, arrange, process/preserve, and describe textual records; and produce administrative histories for the newspapers and custodial histories for selected images in the photograph collection based on new research. This will result in RAD-compliant descriptions at the fonds, series, sub-series, and item levels (as appropriate) for all archival holdings. These descriptions will be entered into open-source software and made available to the public through the MHSO's website and various archival information networks.
