Purpose
The proposed project by Saskatchewan Polytechnic (SP) aims to advance sustainable development and natural resource management in the Philippines through applied research fellowships focused on geospatial technologies for coastal resource management. Over two years, the program will fund four fellowships (two annually), each valued at $50,000 for eight months, including at least one month of in-country research. The initiative builds on SP’s prior NFRF-funded project and strong partnerships with organizations such as Daluhay, Bicol University, and Ateneo University, as well as existing institutional ties supported by SP’s Manila office. Research will address climate change impacts, food security, and Indigenous advocacy in coastal regions, leveraging GIS and remote sensing to support conservation and resilience strategies. ?
