Purpose

This project aims to improve access to maternal and newborn services and enhance the health of the vulnerable and poor of Bauchi State, Nigeria. Activities include: (1) increasing the knowledge of women of child bearing age and community leaders on maternal and newborn health and family planning; (2) improving the skills and capacities of health service providers, the availability of medicines and supplies, and the state of health care centres; and (3) improving health governance groups to ensure these interventions are sustainable. Ultimately, the project seeks to reduce maternal and newborn mortality.
