Purpose
This project aims to address a funding gap related to the menstrual health component of a pilot program entitled Enhancing food and nutrition security and health for vulnerable urban dwellers in Bangladesh. The World Food Programme (WFP), the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) implements the program. This $170,052 contribution supports the Menstrual Health Management component implemented by UNFPA. It allows for the continued support of menstrual health management for vulnerable adolescent girls and women in a Dhaka slum. Project activities include: (1) providing and distributing three different types of sanitary napkins to 3,300 girls and women through 20 local shops; (2) building awareness among stakeholders of the need to address menstrual health issues; and (3) disseminating lessons learned.
