Purpose

This project seeks to advance women and girls' empowerment in Colombia, promoting and protecting their rights, by strengthening gender-responsive public management approaches, and enhancing the capacity of the women’s movement and civil society to advocate for public policies and budgets which respond to their needs and priorities. Gender-responsive budgeting is recognized as a strategic tool to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment, by improving the allocation of existing resources in a more equitable way and ensuring that gender-differentiated needs and priorities are reflected in public policies. This initiative will deliver high quality technical assistance to the Government of Colombia, women’s rights organizations and civil society for the systematic and sustainable integration of gender equality considerations into national and local planning and budgeting processes.
