Purpose
The United Nations (UN) has identified a lack of French language skills as one of the largest capacity gaps within UN peace operations missions. This project represents Canada’s contribution, along with other donors, to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the implementation of a two-day seminar titled “Francophone Seminar on Peacekeeping” taking place 24-25 June 2019. This seminar is designed to increase understandings of UN peacekeeping contexts and deployment regulations with a goal to increase the number of police and military from francophone African countries to UN peace operations missions.
