Purpose
This project aims to strengthen peace and human rights in a volatile region by promoting inclusive community planning, social cohesion, and gender equity by supporting state institutions and local actors to build governance capacity to strengthen resilience. The project supports urgent needs including shock-responsive agriculture, climate adaptation, and livelihood restoration, to address the impacts of regional insecurity and climate volatility. It also enhances household and community resilience by providing sustainable food production systems, irrigation infrastructure, and training, to mitigate the economic and environmental shocks affecting Northern Nigeria. Project activities include: (1) Support to the development and creation of community and household assets for sustainable food production, post-harvest handling and market linkages; (2) Providing vocational training for youth in agribusiness and digital skills including financial inclusion through National Identification Number (NIN) registration; (3) Strengthening early warning systems for shock responsive social protection using anticipatory action through training and support with development of frameworks and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); and (4) Strengthening the state social protection policy to include safety nets.
