Purpose

The department has allocated 100,000 CAD in funds under Code Vote 10 to the Legal Bureau to support the UN’s Trust Fund. These funds will be used to assist in covering the participation costs of developing country members of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS), a body managed by the UN Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS). The purpose of this allocation is to provide financial assistance to developing countries in their participation in the CLCS, which plays a crucial role in delineating the outer limits of continental shelves, contributing to sustainable ocean management and the implementation of international maritime law.
