Purpose

The initiative targets girls ages 12-16 to ensure that they have full access to public education in Burkina Faso’s northern regions who have been affected by the ongoing threat of violence. This will help ensure these children do not “fall behind” due to school closures, and have an equal chance of completing their primary education despite the continuing security threat. The proposed intervention would thus not only support the government effort to ensure on-time transition from Primary to Post-Primary levels; but would also look at ways to retain girls in school through to the end of the basic education curriculum.
