Purpose
The project supports the local Iraqi police forces by training a core group of police trainers from the governorates of Anbar and Ninewah in policing, administration, and management, driven by data and local knowledge (“knowledge-based policing”). The project works to make local police units more responsive to the needs of the local population, through better understanding of local issues, operational planning, and management of resources. The project aims to provide ongoing mentorship to local police officers from these two governorates, including 100 currently active women police officers. The project also works to help refurbish four strategic police stations in both governorates so they can support the implementation of citizen-focused policing in liberated areas.
