Purpose

The Healing Journeys Project implemented by Victoria International Development Education Association (VIDEA) will provide Indigenous youth, specifically, Indigenous youth with additional barriers to employment, internships varying from three to six months. The project will offer 162 Indigenous youth opportunities to respond to the need articulated by local partner organizations and gain improved capacity to implement climate adaptation, youth development, gender equality, SRHR, disability support programs; to build more inclusive, discrimination free, programs and workplaces; and to access Indigenous knowledge sources. Further to their internship specific technical skills, it is expected that Indigenous youth will be empowered to meet self-defined life goals, to engage in employment, education, or the voluntary sector, to overcome barriers, to build supportive relationships and friendships, and to engage in the development of healthy communities.
