Purpose
The Northwest Territories Department of Justice, Community Justice and Community Policing Division, will establish a Family Information Liaison Unit (FILU) to gather information for families of missing and murdered Indigenous women. This FILU will include two sites. One will be situated in Inuvik to serve the Beaufort Delta and Sahtu areas and one will be located in Yellowknife to serve the Dehcho, South Slave and North Slave areas. Information and support will be provided by the FILU's coordinators, in partnership with the Native Women's Association of the Northwest Territories (NWA) who will provide a Family Support Facilitator at both FILU locations in NWT. This model will result in effective use of resources and will ensure that support services for family members are coordinated, accessible, and culturally relevant.
