Purpose

The university will conduct a research study with the goal of improving the social and economic well-being of Black youth victims of crime through mentorship and wraparound service. The project will incorporate a participatory methodology, including the engagement of Black youth and undergraduates, employers, parents, and Black communities as agents of change. The research will focus on Black youth including 2SLGBTQI+, official language minority communities, criminal justice, child welfare, low income, precarious housing, and newcomer youth who have been victims of crime. The goals are to provide wraparound support to Black victims of crime; to provide mentorship and work-integrated learning to Black victims of crime who are in high school and undergraduate studies; and to provide a model created by the Black community for the Black community.
