Purpose

The CIHR Institute of Cancer Research (CIHR-ICR) has a mandate to support research that reduces the burden of cancer on individuals and families through prevention strategies, screening, diagnosis, effective treatments, psycho-social support systems, and palliation. Research Areas: This Priority Announcement will fund research in the following priority areas: • Prevention and/or Early Detection of Cancer o Research focused on primary and/or secondary cancer prevention. o Research related to tertiary cancer prevention, minimal residual disease, or cancer recurrence will not be funded. • Cancer Survivorship o Research focused on: • Late and long-term effects of cancer treatments; • Cancer survivors’ experiences and outcomes; and/or • Models of cancer survivorship care. o Research related to end-of-life care will not be funded.
