Purpose

This project involves the development of an ultra-portable low-cost platform for the rapid and accurate detection of foodborne pathogenic bacteria in food products and samples from food production. The innovation uses on-site sample preparation tools with an integrated enrichment step to extract nucleic acids from different contaminated sample types and highly-sensitive loop-mediated isothermal amplification coupled with digital lateral flow devices to deliver reliable detection results in less than 2 hours.
